Coming from a musical lineage, his father, Austin Munasinghe, a renowned music composer in Sri Lanka, and his mother, Sepalini Achirawathie Yalagama, a dedicated music teacher, have been instrumental in shaping his career.

Tharupathi's multifaceted career encompasses significant contributions across various artistic fields, including cinema, stage plays, and television series. He has composed music for an impressive 32 television series, showcasing his versatility and creativity in the medium.
